Birthday 38 was such a blast. My 38th B day was simple, but sweet. It included dinner dates with Girlfriends, Happy Hour at one of the hottest clubs in the Metroplex, love, laughter, and marching in the MLK parade with Mocha Sisters in observance of Dr. Kings Birthday.   Some people may say what's the big deal or you are getting old, so why talk about it. As I have stated numerous times before I love a party, a celebration, a get together, or special event. It does not matter if it is my birthday, my children, family or friends. Party ideas for a Mother are as plentiful as for children. The honoree's likes and interest should always be apart of the planning of her special celebration. A Girlfriend Slumber Party, Girls Night Out or a fabulous party at a trendy club or special event location.<br />
<br />
Though my birthday this year is not a "milestone" birthday, I truly have a lot to be thankful for and to celebrate pertaining to life. Life is precious and any birthday deserves recognition. So remember that when your family or friends birthdays approach. It is about the small things. A birthday message through text, Facebook, or phone. A birthday note or card. I received them all and I will tell you it made my week not just my day. <br />

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us most families have the tradition of starting to decorate their homes for Christmas the day after. Black Friday and Cyber Monday or Week are great times to locate new trendy decor for the occasion. I personally have found deals at Big Lots, Target, Walmart, and even Kmart for Holiday decor. You can locate everything from Christmas trees pre-lit or not to yard decor. Holiday decorations are so important since they tend to set the mood. Deciding on your decor color scheme is equivalent to the interior designing decisions of your home. You should not have a tree with red bows and ornaments, but stockings and door wreath that are white and gold. So take the time to plan out how you would like your decor to look. Remember your decor will appear in your Family Christmas pictures.<br>

My plans are to be with family. I definitely can not wait to taste my Grandmother Pearlene's famous Sweet Potato Pie. There is no other recipe like my Grandmother's. Well we all look forward to the spread of food for Thanksgiving, but what about the decor. Most of the time decor for the Holidays only comes to mind when thinking of Christmas. However Thanksgiving is worthy of decor as well. Decor could be as simple as a fall wreath on the door, pumpkins, and scarecrows like for Harvest Fest. The dinner table setting is most important. So I am going to share some table decorating ideas that will not present a challenge. First let's start with a table cloth. The tablecloth can be in the brown or orange family. Make sure that you have measured the tables length and width, ensuring that the tablecloth covers the entire table, but does not drag the floor. The next accent is a table runner. Preferably a lighter color than the tablecloth. If you do not like table runners, then place mats instead should be okay. Chargers placed at each sit, then plates and napkins to match the runner or place mats, and eating utensils placed in the proper eating etiquette order. Drinking goblets add a nice touch no matter the drink being served. Centerpieces such as a Vase with flowers, or large glass globe with Thanksgiving inspired decor. Surrounding the centerpiece should be pillar candles. Another choice could be a Thanksgiving inspired arrangement. This type of table decorating would require a separate table for the food. The food table should be decorated as well. The Turkey as the centerpiece and all sides arranged around the Turkey. I also love having a separate table for desserts. Your tablecloths for your food tables should match the dinner table, if not the runner as a contrast. <br>

I was perusing Facebook and decided to visit Good Morning America's FB page, they are one of my favorites, their most current status placed the spotlight on a Bridal Gown Store in Chicago that burned down. The question posed was "What would you do as a Bride if the Bridal Gown Store that you have purchased your Wedding Dress from burns down?" Apparently GMA will be featuring a story tomorrow morning on this subject. Now many times throughout planning for that big day many Brides and Wedding Planners too, don't think about the possibilities of something like this happening, nor do they consider the need for Wedding Insurance. <br />

My first encounter or knowledge that such exist has been through my Wedding Planner Certification Class by American Academy of Wedding Professionals. Have you ever thought about, God forbid the Wedding is called off or the possibility of a family emergency that impacts the ability to go through with the Wedding at the time planned? No you probably haven't, as most us see this day only about the fairytale we have dreamed minus any interruptions. The wise and responsible thing to purchase during planning is Wedding Insurance. This way you can recover from most interruptions that could impact your pocket. Let's face it, the expenses for a Wedding are costly, and protection of your wallet should be a high priority. <br />

I am definitely interested in knowing the advice that will be provided on tomorrow mornings show on GMA. Brides, Bride's Mothers and Planners should listen very closely. We of course do not want any disasters, but a smart Wedding Planner is prepared and has the motto of the Boy Scout to be prepared. So Ladies the next time you are apart of planning a wedding or know a friend or family member that maybe getting married share with them the need of Wedding Insurance. New Adventures Part 2

Hey People!!! So guess, what I have done?? I have signed up for various cooking competitions. Primarily dessert focused along with a few entree contest. The most recent one is the Real Women of Philadelphia. My good friend, Alonda's mother Ms. Cynthia, was a finalist in the original competition. After watching her I became inspired. So I decided to sign up. I submitted my very first recipe tonight. I can't wait to see the results. Now you know that cooking was not the only excitement, but presentation too. The dessert I made is called Shelley's Pistachio & Cream Cheese Holiday Parfait. Just in time for the Holidays. You know how the Holidays and eating goes hand and hand. Especially desserts.... Still taking Wedding Planner Certification Class. I will be finished in January 2011. I am also working on my baking techniques more everyday. Check out my blog Cupcake Divalishes to keep track of my baking progress. Possible relocation in the near future. Starting to looking into expanding LLC to be present in Georgia. Saving for Special Events Annual Conference in January, so that I can test for NACE certification. I am still working my regular 9-5. Yes, I get a tad bit tired, but anything worth having does not come easy. So, I am pushing forward. I decided to hold off on my brochure design until my blog design is complete this month by April Showers Blog Design. I am so excited about what the future will be for me personally as well as in business. As I have said before, "I love to plan a party, get togethers, festivals, and making dreams a reality."
