You may notice my second favorite, better yet the first, event to plan is children's birthday parties. They are so much fun. Bouncers, pinatas, games, dancing, balloons, music, and the sound of laughter and love from children are the reasons I so love kids birthday parties. Most of the time deciding on the child's theme is easy. Your child normally has a particular character interest. I know my son Chandler every year has had a different interest. Birthday number one was at the Magic Time Machine. The restaurant's waiting staff are a selection of characters, and since he was unable to communicate what his interest was, it was idea. Birthday number two, he was able to convey his interest. Spiderman was his favorite. So he had a Spiderman inspired party. The decor, birthday cake, and even the majority of the gifts received were Spiderman themed. It turned out nicely. Chandler was so excited and after all that is all that matters.
My daughter Jasmine has had numerous themed parties. I will say each theme has one key connection, Princess inspired. And why not, she is our Princess Jasmine. Speaking of Princess Jasmine, that was her second birthday party theme. The fifth birthday was Princess Barbie theme. Her cake as a Princess Barbie Doll and it was the center of attention. Jasmine's ninth birthday was a two day event. The theme was Disney Princesses. Tiaras, confetti, Disney Princess decor and movies to go along with the theme. Jasmine has always loved really girlie things, so as we begin planning now for her Sweet 16, two years in advance, I am certain pink, princess, tiaras, and grand will be apart of the event.
My advice Parents, if you must plan your child's party yourself, keep their likes and dislikes in mind while planning. Reconnect with your inner child and you will definitely plan a memorable and fun event. My kids have great memories about their birthday parties, because their likes and dislikes were considered. Venue selections can be as simple as your home or Chuck E Cheese, but not limited to. Hotels, Community Centers, or even Club Houses are choices as well.
I normally planned parties that provided entertainment to not only the children, but their parents too. Just have fun with it. I will keep you posted on the Sweet 16 and hope some of the suggestions are helpful to your planning.
