So Super Bowl XLV weekend is fast approaching. Unfortunately the Metroplex has been inundated with iced roads, windy conditions, and record breaking cold temperatures. My question now is where we (DFW Metroplex), prepared for one of the largest, if not the largest event ever?? You might say, "Social Butterfly Diva, people can't control the weather or Mother Nature." You are absolutely right we can't, however we have the ability to plan for various situations. Planning any event requires preparation no matter the size of the event small or large. My great city had the pleasure to host the 2010 All Star Weekend in February this past year.
The weather was pretty bad then too. I will say Texas weather is notorious for changing abruptly. One day it maybe 70 degrees in January and the next few days snow. We are well aware of this. So I would recommend and highly suggest in the future that the planning include weather preparation. Snow plows for the entire city, sand gravel mixture for the entire city and but of course electricity for the entire city. Yes, I said electricity. Just in case you are unaware many resident across the Metroplex had to endure "so called" strategic blackouts during some of the most coldest weather in our city in the last 20 years.
We all know that the hosting city for the Super Bowl has large economical gain opportunity. I call a boost. With this being said, no one deserves to be deprived of light and heat for it's city to receive that type of return. Although I will say it's my first time hearing, seeing or experiencing such. I personally lived in Atlanta, Georgia for several years during the 1996 Olympics, which happened to have had more people from the around the World for this event during the Summer of Atlanta's hottest temperatures, and no blackouts. So what gives. I will tell you again what the difference is, the planning.
So DFW(Dallas Ft Worth), the next time we want to host an event this size, the lesson is be prepared.
